Business cards with coloured edges have a true wow factor. The perception of your business cards change from being a flat card, into a gorgeous, purpose-built tactile object which truly represents you.
When designing your business card with edge colouring in mind, consider highlighting the secondary colour of your brand on the edges of your card. Alternatively, a spectacular effect is achieved when the impressed design bleeds over the front edge to join the coloured side edge.

Edge colouring is charged at $190 for up to 1,000 cards, and is exclusively available with business cards printed on Crane Lettra 600gsm and Gmund Cotton 500gsm. Physical limitations currently prevent successful application on other paper weights, and all cards with die-cutting.

With die cutting from The Distillery, your business card edges don’t need to be square.
Die cutting is a subtle, powerful effect that offers a strong and lasting impact. Choose from a range of round corners or bevel corner shapes, or design your own custom shape to carry your corporate identity system.
To die-cut business cards, we laser cut the die-cut shape onto a template called a “knife”. The knife looks and acts much like a cookie-cutter, and is placed inside the letterpress chase. Business cards are then registered for position, and fed through the press one more time to pop out the custom shape.
The cost for die-cutting business cards with a custom knives starts at approximately $290, depending on shape, size and complexity.

Compared to die cutting, laser cutting offers a more precise, finer path of cut. It is a more cost effective option for custom shaped business cards requiring a smaller run. One aspect to consider with the laser-cutting technique is the effect of material burning from the laser beam. With careful planning, the burning effect can be minimised or the feature even embraced to create a captivating effect.
