The Stationery Process

When should invitations be sent?

In advance of the wedding day, couples often share:

12 to 9 months out →
  • Save the Date – cards and emails
  • Invitations – for overseas guests / destination weddings
3 to 2 months out →
  • Invitations – for all guests
1 month to 2 weeks out →
  • RSVP – from your guests

How long does the process take?

As a larger commercial studio, The Distillery can expedite stationery production. It is generally best to leave:

Design 🎨 →
  • 1 week – studio design, or
  • 3 weeks – custom design

Expediting supply of your feedback helps speed up the process.

Printing 🛠️ →
  • 2 weeks – from design sign-off

Same day production is possible, if necessary. But good things take time.

Postage & Delivery 📮
  • 1 week – for Australia Post

Sydney metropolitan addresses usually arrive within 3 days.

How would we work together?

Briefing 🗣️ →

Ideally we can meet in person, where together we can explore your vision and ideas for wedding styling and stationery.

Understanding potential design and production requirements is important to help us develop a project quotation.

Meeting is obligation free – it’s fun, and we love to talk paper, design and creativity!

Prefer to work remotely or already have artwork designed? Not a problem, email us a brief, meet online, or give us a call on 02 9360 9958.

The Distillery’s design team have learnt that every couple is wonderfully unique :)

When designing, our team are focussed on understanding:

  • the style of you and your partner
  • the style of your wedding day
  • how you would like your guests to feel when receiving the invitation
  • your preferences for creative expression

Customised design is effective when there is a clear goal in mind. It is efficient when we avoid trial and error.

Browse our gallery and feel free to share your saved inspiration of ideas. Integrity is an important creative value. Our team illustrate and hand-letter original work, avoiding AI, stock imagery and the latest curved gravestone template trend :)

Production 🛠️

The Distillery print the old fashioned way with vintage printing presses, one ink colour at a time. Letterpress is a manual and bespoke production technique which results in:

  • deboss impression
  • richer ink colours
  • thicker fluffier paper stocks

The letterpress production process is a beautiful craft, and you’re invited to visit The Distillery for a press-watch during the production of your stationery. You can even learn how to mix your own Pantone ink!
