OpenLearning is an online learning platform that goes beyond content delivery to focus on community, connectedness, and student engagement. Its main difference between most online learning platforms, is the understanding that for students to learn deeply, they need to be active, engaged, inspired and involved. They also need to interact with their peers, create their own choices, connect dots between new and current knowledge and they need to have fun in the process. Not only should everyone be able to learn, but everyone should also be able to teach each other.

OpenLearning approached The Distillery to help rebrand their startup, and to help take their brand to the next level. The brief was to create an identity that is dynamic, memorable, and fits within the social media space. Our solution was in creating a mark – a simple, circular ‘O’. It’s hand drawn, so anyone can create it. It’s playful and represents ideas such as communication, choice, community and learning with the negative space of the mark creating a speech bubble. The mark was complemented with vibrant colours and patterns, throughout stationery, uniforms, signage and app icons.
