THE WEDDING DAY OF SANDA AND DAVID

SandaDavid_120302_1093

Sanda and David became engaged whilst on a brief  holiday from Sanda’s home country of Canada in Cuba. This love of travel lead them to take their honeymoon before the wedding, which inspired the illustrations of a Tuscany town and vineyard used on their wedding stationery. Their wedding ceremony was held at All Saints Anglican Church in Hunters Hill followed by a reception at a Deckhouse on Sydney Harbour.

How was the lead up to your wedding day?

It was pretty smooth considering, the three months before the wedding went really quickly, through a combination of Christmas, holidays and hosting around 10 family members and friends over from Canada.

Did everything run smoothly on the day?

Everything went really well on the day, it fell during a very rainy period for Sydney but it didn’t change a thing on the day. Fitting to the weather guests were supplied with beautiful white umbrellas and transported to the reception in water taxis.

The reception had such stunning harbour views that nothing more than fresh flowers were needed to compliment the space.

The reception was cocktail style and had a relaxed atmosphere where everyone could mingle and chat without being confined to a seating plan, it also meant I could properly speak to majority of my guests before the night was over.

What theme/style did you have for your wedding?

No exact theme, we just knew we wanted things to be elegant and simple. The reception had such stunning harbour views that nothing more than fresh flowers were needed to compliment the space.

Do you have 3 tips for other brides and grooms preparing for their wedding day?

  1. Create a thorough schedule for all the tasks you need to do on the day; how long everything will take and when people are arriving and assign these tasks to others to take the pressure off.
  2. Don’t get too concerned on the finer details, e.g the exact colour of a ribbon, there are more important things, and you will waste precious time trying to perfect everything!
  3. Make sure to relax and enjoy the day, take the time to enjoy what you have worked so hard for.

Why did you choose to have your stationery letterpress printed?

We wanted something different, other than stock standard typical ‘ribbon and diamonte’ invite – we were after something classy, simple and elegant which showed its quality.

What is the story behind the illustration on your invitations?

We decided to have our honeymoon before our marriage, we traveled to Europe In Autumn last year and fell in love with Italy, especially the region of Tuscany. The illustrations on our stationery are of a Tuscany landscape looking over a picturesque town and vineyards.

How did you family and friends react to your invitations?

They loved them; we received many compliments about the look and especially the feel of them! Many people were curious about the origin of the illustration and asked if it were somewhere in Canada!
