Merribee is an historic house, 6 acres of ornate gardens, restored silo, barn and accommodation. Located on the NSW South Coast, Merribee is primarily used for weddings, garden parties and functions.

In 2015 The Distillery was approached to rebrand Merribee. Our goal was to refresh the positioning of the venue to better represent its offering as a first-class wedding and event destination.

With such beautiful grounds, our strategy was to visually capture the garden’s atmosphere and environment into unique brand elements. Something engaging which could enchant and inspire someone’s initial curiosity, and turn it into a mission to find out more.

We worked closely with the venue owners Richard and Lucy Marshall, with trips down to Nowra to shoot photos, and literally smell the roses. We felt upfront that it was important for us to first see, feel and experience Merribee’s offering ourselves before diving in.

Working collaboratively with Merribee, we created a new brand identity, logo, signage, website, and stationery collateral. The concept is based around Merribee’s heritage, utilising elements from their gardens and surrounding plant and animal life.

We understand that a large increase in website enquiries has since been received since the rebrand, and we feel this project as one of our most effective and successful of 2015.

This project was so successful that in the months following project’s completion, our own General Manager and Managing Director, decided to host their own respective weddings at Merribee too!
